Yep. It’s true. Dr. Mark Truman has 6 kids. 6! That’s almost a baseball team. Having this many children is proof that Dr. Truman loves being around people. In fact, everyone who works with him feels like he’s their BFF. Luckily, no one has started fighting over who his favorite is –yet. Seriously though, everyone who walks into our office can’t help but feel an instant connection to Dr. Truman. This is why so many people feel right at home when they come to our office.

Mark Truman caused me to develop severe temporomandibular joint disorder. I am a 24-year-old female. I completed braces with Mark Truman in 2013 when I was 13. When Dr. Truman removed my braces, I knew something felt off. The way my teeth closed together didn’t feel comfortable. I can remember my thoughts and feelings at this time. Because my bite and teeth were misaligned, I remember trying to forcefully bite down and force my teeth/bite to close. What I didn’t realize at the time was the extent of the years of pain and suffering I was about to endure. Misaligned bites are known to cause bruxism/teeth clenching. This habit quickly became a subconscious thing I did all day/night. A few weeks after removing my braces, I started experiencing facial pain daily. I was only 13 years old. My family and I were perplexed as to what would be causing this pain. We initially thought it was sinus related, so I saw an ENT, who subsequently performed a sinus surgery, hoping my facial pain would subside. That surgery did not work. I began suffering from daily tension headaches and facial pain as the years passed. Over the years, I have seen upwards of 30 physicians, dentists, orthodontists, periodontists, oral surgeons, maxillofacial surgeons, and pain specialists. All of the specialists in the dental realm noted that my bite is horrible. I’ve undergone physical therapy, acupuncture, ketamine infusions, chiropractic work, botox, lidocaine injections, and prolotherapy. I’ve had arthroscopic jaw surgery. I have worn several different mouth appliances; one to move my front six teeth forward so my bottom teeth could close more comfortably and others to help with clenching and grinding. I’ve tried over ten different prescription migraine medications and have taken hundreds of different supplements. I currently need to take a high-dose anti-depressant, because the years I’ve endured chronic pain have been highly detrimental to my mental health, and dealing with this every day is extremely hard and exhausting. I’m currently seeing a TMJ specialist who says I cannot get braces to fix my bite because my jaw joints are too unstable – because I have severe osteoarthritis in my jaw joints caused by TMJ. My family and I have spent THOUSANDS of dollars and so much of our time trying to find a cure and searching for things to help me manage this pain. I have gone back to see Dr. Truman over the years, and he dismissed me every time. He should have known not to remove my braces. He should have known my bite was misaligned. Be extremely careful choosing an orthodontist because problems with your bite can lead you down a dangerous path later on.

The customer service was great and very kid friendly. I enjoyed the way I was treated even though the appointments were very difficult to get. The staff was very kind and my kids enjoyed being there.

We’re back! I already left a five-star review for Truman Orthodontics but I thought I’d leave another since my son is officially in his second phase of treatment with them. The staff is just as nice and welcoming as before. Now there’s an additional ortho and he’s amazing as well. Plus they have a nice game room. Check them out!

The staffs are wonderful and friendly. The staff were very helpful and assured our kids that there is nothing to be nervous about getting their braces. They answered the kids’s questions. The facility is great for the kids and adults. They have game rooms for the kids and coffee for the adults. I can’t wait for the end result when the kids are finally done with their braces.”

I was a patient of the former orthodontic office that Dr. Truman purchased approximately 20 years ago. I had a great experience with everything then.  Today I called to make an appointment at Truman Orthodontics to have a few teeth straightened as they shifted over the years.  I was told it’s a $65 consult fee.  I asked if they could waive it and they said “no” because I was a former patient. I see on their website they are offering a free consult and when I asked the person who I was speaking to about it she said it was new patients only. After 20 years I am probably not even in their system so wouldn’t that qualify me as a “new” patient? And I started out at the former practice, not with Dr. Truman. So, I will go elsewhere.  How disappointing.
