Our makeup school was borne of a love of the craft of makeup artistry, was founded in 2010 by accomplished professional makeup artist Lissette Waugh. Since opening, the L Makeup Institute has developed a national presence with students traveling from all over the country to attend makeup school at our Las Vegas or Dallas – Fort Worth campuses. Why? There are thousands of Cosmetology Schools, but only a few Makeup Artistry Schools in the US that offer hands-on accredited programs that are a deep study of all styles of makeup artistry.

Hiii!! I am Dana. I started looking into going to makeup school after I finished Aveda. I finally found an amazing program that isn’t a crazy price for a “two week course”. I wanted something in depth and I found this school. I toured the Southlake location but due to me having post 9/11 GI bill it was brand new school and couldn’t accept it until they were open for 5 years. They did inform me the las vegas campus would accept it. I did the application process and got in. With them help of my savings, Gi bill, supportive parents, and a amazing school I moved to Las Vegas. I absolutely loved the experience I had. My classmates were the absolute best in helping out if I didn’t understand as well as the teachers would help and offered after school tutoring. After long hard 8 months I finished and I moved back to Texas after and started my DREAM JOB as a makeup artist for weddings. I love lisa she was amazing at helping me transition into a new atmosphere. 10/10 RECOMMEND!!!

i went here in March 2021 and stopped attending the program in August when i was supposed to finish in November. i stopped going for many reasons. i started to get so much anxiety going here and i started to feel miserable going there everyday because the teachers weren’t teaching the way i expected it was almost like they were just watching the class instead of instructing. the teaching felt like it was straight out of the books. my class started off good, i felt like i was learning a lot and all of the girls got along and overall it was fun everyday in class. like two months into the program, things just started changing. most of us felt as if the instructors were talking about us or they would help certain people more than others. some of the best artists in the class barley got recognition on their work or on the L Makeup Institute instagram account. favoritism was definitely shown midway through the program. they stopped doing student of the month with our class up until airbrush but we noticed other classes had a SOTM except for us when we were in the beauty and hair courses. the instructors are helpful but to a certain point. i understand makeup is a form of creativity and artistry so anyone who teaches it will have their own unique opinions and styles of makeup but it’s like they just give you all the right products and tools but then you have to figure it out on your own. they weren’t very helpful in my opinion. all of the instructors there are past students that graduated from this school. they have another campus in Texas and that one seems WAY more professional and put together than the Las Vegas location. this school is worth a lot of money, but is it worth it? you do get some great products and they do provide a lot of great stuff that you get to keep afterwards. they SHOULD provide a restock kit because you end up using most of your products during school so in the real world you have to repurchase everything. if you know absolutely nothing about makeup or have never done makeup on anyone besides yourself, good luck. this school is great for practicing on others and getting more comfortable but learning wise, not so great. i feel like i should have learned more for the time being when i was attending class. based on my experience, i don’t believe their critiques are very honest or helpful. you can only miss 7 days while you’re in this program and anything more than that, they charge like $200 per day. to me, it didn’t seem fair that they ask for money for the days you miss but then you still have to make those days up at the end of the year. why pay that chunk of money if you make up your time at the end? i was so excited when i first discovered this school i even moved across the country just to attend L Makeup Institute. it wasn’t horrible, i left with some great stuff and a little more knowledge than i already had but it was honestly a disappointing experience. i just wish i would have done more research on what other schools had to offer and just took my time before putting almost $30,000 into this.

Thank you Lily (with a Y.) She did my makeup for a few hours and it was so relaxing! You will have to sign a waiver. They play music during the session. The teacher chooses a makeup look for the students to complete and they put it on the mirror to reference throughout the look. After, you will be taken into a separate room to take pictures. The store attached to the school is open to the public so I checked it out after I got my makeup done.

My dreams and aspirations in life is to be able to help others through the artistry of makeup. Makeup to me is empowering. You can transform into anything you want to be! I want to be able to transform others in becoming the best versions of themselves whether it’s on their wedding day (Special occasions), performances, formal school dances, graduations, festivals, Halloween, job interviews, photo shoots and everyday life!Growing up I have ALWAYS been surrounded by makeup subconsciously. I grew up doing dance, cheerleading, theater, and taking advantage of the special day, Halloween! Being around all types of makeup gave me the desire to learn more about it. I’m constantly watching my friends and family do their makeup and literally glued to my computer watching YouTube videos or flipping through magazines to see different types of makeup looks. I’m always asking myself, “How do they do that?” But I was never able to get the courage to pick up a brush and try doing it myself. Which made me terrified to even attempt going into the makeup industry.Honestly, I never thought makeup could be a tangible career for me until I discovered L Makeup Institute. I was able to tour the school with Lisa (who was absolutely fabulous by the way & made me feel so welcomed & special) and I immediately fell in love. She answered all of my questions and doubts with a smile on her face and told me that I was in the right place. Touring the school made me realize that this is something I can do as a career because L Makeup Institute will help me prepare for the field and gain insight not only on beauty makeup, but airbrushing and special effects as well. I truly felt like I was destined to be there. I KNOW L Makeup Institute will get me started on my new journey and prepare me on becoming a makeup artist. I can’t wait to get started on my new journey at L Makeup Institute!

Never in my life did I think that I’d have the opportunity to pursue a career in one of my lifelong passions – until I found L Makeup Institute. Attending this school was easily one of the best experiences of my life. The instructors and faculty are so knowledgable and helpful, their passion for their craft is infectious. Thank you L Makeup for not only helping me hone my skills and preparing me as a Makeup Artist, but for giving me the confidence to follow my dream.

I fell in love with everything about L makeup the first day I walked in the retail store. When I found out they offered training I was excited to learn about the programs. Attending L was one of the best decisions I’ve made by far. I gained so much knowledge and experience in all aspects of makeup artistry I wouldn’t have otherwise to further my career. I’m so proud to be attending my graduation ceremony in two weeks, thank you for an amazing experience!

L Makeup Institute is an amazing school built to create the best of the best makeup artists wether you take only the beauty course or the full journey. At L Makeup Institute, where I am currently enrolled, the teachers and staff are friendly from the moment you walk through the doors. The enrollment process was simple and non stressful with the help of Lisa Torti. She was able to answer all of my questions about the programs as well as aid me in which one to take. Before acceptance into the program there is a one on one meeting with Lissette, the owner and Education Director of L Makeup Institute. She was welcoming and friendly as well. As for my teachers they all want every single one of us to succeed in every aspect and are always there for us if we need any help. Overall L Makeup Institute feels like a family that I am glad to be a part of!

I called and was transferred over to the manager because i had questions on their programs and they didn’t give me any new information but said what was on their website. i asked about being an eyelash technician and going here and she said you needed a aesthetician license and that i couldn’t go to their school! very very rude, and i was just doubting everyone saying bad thing about them… but i guess it’s true. i’m VERY disappointed, i was willing to even go spend thousands of dollars there.
